Getting In Touch
I am always very interested to hear what people in my constituency think, so please do write to me at me via postal or email address above.
If you need my help on a personal issue, then please read the next section before making contact, as it may help you to know what I can and can’t do.
What I Can Help With
There is no job description for an MP and it is up to an individual MP which cases they take on. I will try to assist my constituents with a wide range of problems. However, MPs are generally more likely to be able to help with problems concerning central government services such as:
- Benefits, pensions, national insurance and other matters dealt with by the Department for Work and Pensions;
- Immigration and visa problems
- Tax problems, and matters involving HM Revenue and Customs;
- Problems with the NHS;
- Problems with the Child Support Agency
I am also happy to take up issues with Harrow Council on behalf of constituents. These may include:
- Housing allocation and repairs
- Rubbish collection, litter, fly-tipping
- Planning issues
- School admissions
- Social care
My staff will try and help you wherever possible, and if appropriate, book an appointment at one of my surgeries. We deal with an average of 300 new cases every month, so please be patient with us if we are busy. My office will get back to you as soon as they can if you leave a message on the answer phone.
If I am unable to help I may refer you to someone more appropriate such as a local councillor, Harrow Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) or another local organisation. For legal advice, you should always contact a solicitor.
Parliamentary Protocol
Please note that there is a strict convention at Westminster that Members of Parliament may not seek to intervene in matters affecting the constituents of other Members of Parliament. So, in normal circumstances therefore, I will only be able to pursue matters raised by my own constituents.
You can check who your MP is (by postcode) on the Parliament website. www.upmystreet.com/commons/l/
I look forward to hearing from you.
